Frequently Asked Questions
About the Photos and Videos
None of the FAQ answers below are true. This is intended to be both humorous (and slightly obnoxious).
Why aren’t there any photos of my kid(s)?
Look closer. Your kid is the one with the green cap with his/her face under the water. There are several photos.
If my kid doesn’t attend the meets, will s/he be photographed?
No, you are responsible for taking photos of your children outside of scheduled Kingstream Kahunas activities.
Where can I see the photos I took on my iPhone of the kids swimming?
Those photos are not on this website. They are located on your iPhone. Click on the Apple Photos icon to view them. Ask your kids to show you if you cannot find them.
Will my kid be filmed if s/he is misbehaving?
Absolutely! Bad behavior is much more likely to be highlighted in photos and the end-of-season video.
Will parents be filmed if they are misbehaving?
Yes, parental misbehavior is even more likely to be photographed.
How can parents ensure they are not filmed misbehaving?
A small contribution to my child’s college fund will get you off this list. DM me for Venmo #.
If the meet is canceled, will my kids be photographed?
No, you are responsible for taking photos of your children during periods of inclement weather. We can, however, suggest some good strategies for photographing your kids during thunderstorms. For example, for a good lightning shot, try using a long metal pole…
Why are the pictures of other kids in my child’s age group so much better than those of my kid(s)?
Your kids are probably swimming too fast. Encourage them to slow down and lift their heads out of the water for at least three seconds so they are easier to photograph. They can also grab onto the lane lines.
Can we get photos of just the timers’ feet without the swimmers?
No, but there are other websites designed for those of you who enjoy looking at photos of other people’s feet. Ask ChatGPT for recommendations.
Is instant replay available to challenge DQs issued by judges?
Herndon Swim League does not currently allow instant replay to challenge any disqualification judgments made by the officiating crew. However, instant replay is being considered for the 2026 season along with the ability to allow pets (dogs) to participate in the medley relays.
How can I see the aerial drone footage being filmed?
You have to purchase the Big Kahuna premium subscription ($699/per season per swimmer) to access the drone footage. The premium subscription also comes with 1) exclusive backstage access to the scorer’s table, 2) the over 21 drink menu at the Kahunas cafe, and 3) a private floating cabana in the kiddie pool area.
How can I see the underwater footage being filmed?
There is no underwater film footage. If you are seeing cameras (or other objects) at the bottom of the pool, consider cutting back on the amount of vodka you are putting in your Stanley before the meets.
How do I get in on the social events I see photographed, but wasn’t invited to?
This FAQ only covers topics related to the photographs and videos. For more information about the Wednesday Pre-Meet Tailgates at the Schills’, the Rain Delay Ragers at the Raysons, and the All-League Meet Luau at the Kesslers’, please speak to the social coordinators.
